Recruitment and Promotion

If you are starting a new role, either at a new company or with your current employer, you will very likely be asked to sign a new employment contract. We can review your terms and negotiate on your behalf to ensure that you have sufficient protection against dismissal; that you will not be unduly restrained after you leave by post termination restrictions; and that the bonus and other remuneration arrangements, which are often complicated, will deliver what has been promised.

The new Senior Managers Regime, which will be introduced as of 2016, will make reviewing your contract before you sign it all the more important. The regime will place a presumption of responsibility on all senior managers in their contracts which could make it more likely that senior executives will face financial and career limiting consequences for institutional failures. For more details, please click here.

We have particular expertise in advising senior executives on the terms and conditions of their employment contracts. We understand the complexities of remuneration arrangements for financial services and insurance professionals. This includes considering and negotiating key issues for senior executives and board directors, such as restrictive covenants and notice periods. We can also guide you through the complex regulations applying to bonus and remuneration in the financial sector.
