Exclusivity clauses in zero hour contracts unenforceable

Legislation is now in force to state that employers cannot enforce exclusivity clauses in zero hour contracts.

This means that workers engaged under contracts without guaranteed working hours are entitled to work for more than one employer.

Such workers will have the right not to be unfairly dismissed for getting another job. If an employer does attempt to enforce an exclusivity term by subjecting the worker to negative treatment, the employee has the right to bring a claim in an Employment Tribunal.
