Hospital cleaners strike for living wage
A large number of cleaners working in hospitals in London went on strike to call for payment of a living wage.
The industrial action lasted for a day and involved almost 200 workers employed by Aramark, who supply cleaning services, working in 4 mental health facilities. Those on strike were calling for changes to their contractual entitlements and a minimum pay rate of £10 per hour.
The staff are thought to be paid £7.38 per hour, which is significantly below the living wage set by the Greater London Authority.
